May Member of the Month // Lizzie Ayles
How did you first get involved at Blitz?
One of my brothers used to do lots of CrossFit and spent years trying to persuade me to give it a go. I ignored him thinking it wouldn't be for me but eventually gave in and tried his gym. I then joined Blitz when I moved to Twickenham a couple of years ago.
What is your most memorable CrossFit moment so far?
The Blitz birthday competition last year was really fun - thank you Lisa G!! And, of course, beating Amanda to win best dressed at the Christmas party... she still hasn’t let that one go!
What is your favourite movement/workout?
I prefer a long AMRAP (As Many Rounds As Possible) - ideally something with running, especially in the summer!
What is your least favourite movement/workout?
Definitely thrusters.
Name a CrossFit goal you hope to achieve by the end of this year?
I would like to get over my fear of box jumps!
What do you do when you’re not training at Blitz?
I spend lots of time outdoors in an effort to counteract my desk job - I love cycling in Richmond Park and the Surrey Hills, and I try to get down to the coast when I can. I also spend too much money and time in local coffee shops!
What is your favourite part of being a Blitz member?
Definitely the supportive coaches. It makes a big difference having coaches who know you personally and are so welcoming.
If you could give a new member one piece of advice what would it be?
Enjoy the journey and don’t worry too much about what everyone else in class is doing. And be consistent with your mobility... advice I chose to ignore for far too long!
Tell us a fun fact about yourself….
A few years ago I spent four weeks sailing across the Atlantic (with a crew of middle-aged men..) - which was as amazing and terrifying as it sounds!
