July Member of the month // Mo Marey

How did you first get involved with Blitz?

When I moved to London a couple of years ago, I was on the hunt for a CrossFit box that could genuinely help me push my fitness boundaries and reach my goals. After checking out a few places, Blitz immediately stood out as the perfect fit, and I’ve been a proud member ever since.

What is your most memorable CrossFit moment so far?

My most memorable CrossFit moment happened recently when Coach Graeme pulled me aside. I'd been working on bar muscle-ups for months with little luck. He simply said, "Come here, sir, you can do a bar muscle up, you just need to do it like this," gave me a quick cue, and somehow, I just got on the bar and did my first-ever one! It was an incredible breakthrough after so much practice.

What is your favourite movement/workout?

Now, I'm a big fan of Bar Muscle-Ups! There's something incredibly satisfying about the combination of strength and coordination it demands.

What is your least favourite movement/workout?

Without a doubt, Burpees over the Bar - they always feel like an endless cardio challenge! Lowkey, I tend to think twice about booking when I see them on the program

Name a CrossFit goal you hope to achieve by the end of this year

My main goal for the end of this year is to nail Ring Muscle-Ups. Now I can do a bar muscle up, I'm determined to get them down consistently.

What do you do when you’re not training at Blitz?

Outside of Blitz, I work in tech sales, which keeps me pretty busy. When I'm not working or at the gym, I love to travel, explore new food spots, catch up on F1 races, and tend to my extensive houseplant collection. They're a real passion of mine!

What is your favourite part of being a Blitz member?

My favorite part of being a Blitz member is the incredible community. The coaches are top-notch and always push me to be better, and the people are genuinely supportive and encouraging. It’s a fantastic environment to train in.

If you could give a new member one piece of advice what would it be?

My advice to a new member would be to trust the process and be consistent. Progress isn't always linear, but showing up, putting in the effort, and listening to your body will get you where you want to be. And don't be afraid to ask questions!

Tell us a fun fact about yourself….

I’m a “third culture kid”! I was born in Egypt but grew up in the Middle East (Bahrain), which gave me a unique perspective and a love for exploring different cultures through travel and, of course, food!
