We’ve all heard that consistency is key to continued progress in fitness, but what are the most important factors when choosing the type of training that fits into your lifestyle?
Mark has been training with us for over a decade, read on to find out what keeps him coming back week after week, and what makes Blitz so special!
How did you first find out about Blitz?
I’d heard about a new CrossFit gym opening up in Twickenham from a colleague, I found Blitz on Facebook but sadly they were in the middle of building works and getting the place set up. Once the gym was up and running I signed myself up… that was ten years ago!
Over the years how has this style of training worked for you?
I’d always enjoyed structured team training and had been in a profession where that was part of my job. Sadly that job came to an end and I knew I needed to fill that training void before my belly took over.
The training at Blitz was exactly what I was after although it was a smidgen tougher! Being a shift worker brought its own challenges but for the most part I’ve managed to find classes that work around my timetable.
What do you value most at Blitz?
It’s a bit of cliche but it has to be the people - the coaches and members are really what make a good gym! The culture and attitude at Blitz is great, it’s welcoming, encouraging and open to everyone.
What advice would you give to someone struggling to combine exercise with work commitments?
I think having a bit of a plan is a good place to start. Have a look at your diary and match that up with what Blitz has to offer. Try and stick to the plan that you make but I wouldn’t be too worried if you miss the odd session, we all know that sometimes life just gets in the way.
Finally, what has been your most memorable moment at Blitz so far?
There’s been too many, I’ve been here a long time! Getting a PR never gets old though!
