How did you first get involved at Blitz?

My wife Anna brought me along to a ‘Bring a friend’ workout in November 2022 after trying to get me signed up for 6 months and I really enjoyed the session and the coaches were great! I then signed up.

What is your most memorable CrossFit moment so far?

There’s quite a few from doing the Chapel and Murph, but it would probably have to be the Open this year. From having no idea what the Open was and only having been a member for a couple of months I went to workout 23.2 planning to just observe but ended up taking part in both workouts 23.2 and 23.3. Seeing the box rammed full of people cheering and screaming encouragement to all the members taking part was amazing, and you couldn’t help feeling like you wanted to be part of that.

What is your favourite movement/workout?

I would say squat clean, having recently got the movement and I surprised myself with the weight I could stand up. I don’t mind the rower.

What is your least favourite movement/workout?

Double Unders! I have had several whips to the back of my head, quite a lot recently.

Name a CrossFit goal you hope to achieve by the end of this year?

There’s not much time left, but hopefully linked toes to bar.

What do you do when you’re not training at Blitz?

Seeing friends and family, eating good food. I also dabble in a bit of pottery, but not often enough.

What is your favourite part of being a Blitz member?

I think it’s been said a lot by other members, but that real sense of community there is at Blitz. You really can’t fabricate it, everyone is so welcoming and supportive, from the coaches to the other members. I’ve met some fantastic people at Blitz!

If you could give a new member one piece of advice what would it be?

Do the workouts you think you’ll be no good at, you will surprise yourself. Also, something I found really beneficial was doing the Barbell classes. Sounds obvious but this has really helped improve my technique with the barbell movements.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself….

Apart from shortly becoming a dad for the first time (by the time this goes to print), I have 2 cats called Rosie and Jim.
