How did you first get involved at Blitz?

We lived in Rome for two years and I started CrossFit there, speaking very little Italian and having never really touched a barbell before! (Shout out to Peak29 in Rome if anyone ever fancies a drop in.) There was a lot of watching very carefully and then attempting to copy things. I loved the challenge though. When we came back to Twickenham in August 2020, I was really keen to keep it up and I found Blitz. I think I managed about 3 months before we were locked down again but loved it! I've even managed to get both my kids and my husband to join now.

What is your most memorable CrossFit moment so far?

I think my most memorable and also terrifying moment was taking part in the Summer  Social this year as part of the Blitz team - I had never done anything like that before - and I did my first toes to rings!

What is your favourite movement/workout?

Anything with running! I generally love a long chipper where you just have to dig deep and get on with it, but it isn't too technical.

What is your least favourite movement/workout?

Anything with a "1 rep max" in the title. I love the barbell but I struggle with confidence and that whole idea of pushing to failure and everyone watching you is a bit intimidating for me. I much prefer a nice EMOM thank you.

Name a CrossFit goal you hope to achieve by the end of this year?

There are so many! I would LOVE to get a pull up or be able to do more than one Toes to Bar. Need to build that upper body strength.

What do you do when you’re not training at Blitz?

In between work and two (almost) teenage daughters, I love running, reading a good book and big walks which usually finish in a pub.

What is your favourite part of being a Blitz member?

Again so many things. The community is amazing at Blitz - people are so encouraging and welcoming. The coaching is brilliant and I love the challenge it provides - something different every session.

If you could give a new member one piece of advice what would it be?

Don't avoid workouts because you think you can't do them. I used to do this a lot. The coaches will adapt anything and you are never made to feel bad about not being able to do something or being a bit scared. I still get anxious sometimes but the coaches and other members are always there to help you.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself….

I once took the "Teacher's race" so seriously at a school sports day, that I managed to trip and fall over in front of 300 children and their parents. Never again....
