Members’ Corner - Rania
At Blitz we have recently launched a new Nutrition offering, designed to help you develop healthy habits that fit into your day to day life, whilst properly fuelling you for your workouts! Long-standing Blitz member Rania has recently taken part in the 8-week Kickstart Challenge, read on to hear about her experience…
How long have you been at Blitz?
I’ve been a member for about 9 years now!
What was your WHY for getting involved in the Nutrition 8-week Kickstart challenge?
Since turning 40 I had noticed I’d started to put on weight at a quicker rate than I used to. So my “why” was two-fold, to lose the weight I had put on, and to learn good eating habits that would then help me to maintain my ideal weight.
What changes have you noticed in yourself through the challenge?
In terms of appearance, I quickly started to see changes and started looking more toned. I was also really surprised how quickly I was able to change my way of eating and make it work within my daily routine.
Has the Nutrition challenge helped in your training?
Absolutely, before starting this I was very disorganised with the way I planned my day and often ended up skipping meals. I felt this really impacted my training, particularly if I was very hungry at the start of a session. Now that I am in a much better routine, I feel better fuelled and more focused during my workouts.
What advice would you give someone thinking about taking part in a nutrition challenge?
Stick to it as much as you can but don’t get too caught up with being too regimented, and don’t give yourself a hard time if the day doesn’t go exactly as you planned! Work hard to stick to the calorie target and macros splits but see it as a learning experience and a way to build healthy habits, rather than restricting yourself too much and then going back to your old habits once the challenge is over.
How has the challenge helped you in your daily life?
It has definitely helped me to be more organised as I now have an eating routine. This has in turn taken some of the stress and anxiety out of day to day life.
Have your family/friends got involved and adopted some positive habits?
I wish, so far their involvement has been making fun of me every time I take the kitchen scales out! I’ll keep working on them…
